I started to write about the peaks and valleys of 2014 and gave up. There were too many valleys and not enough peaks and my writing became bogged down and… well, boring.
So I’ve decided to write about what you can expect from this blog in 2015 and from me personally.
For me, it will give some clarity and direction for the year ahead. For you, I hope to provide the inspiration to follow your renovating dreams and offer you some guidance to turn them into reality.
A (brief) reflection – peaks and valleys
Following my successful renovation peaks of 2013, the first half of 2014 seemed to be one long, gradual decline into the valley of unsuccessful property offers and missed opportunities.
When my husband of 25 years left the family home suddenly in June, my confidence really took a dive. My business partner (and life partner) was gone and I had no idea what to do next.
Six months of introspection, digging deep, opening my heart and creating new possibilities have led me here, now. With a completely clean slate and excitement about the future.
Sometimes when all seems to be lost, it is a cleverly disguised opportunity. For me, it was an opportunity to “find myself” and understand what is really important to me. I intend to seize that opportunity and, in sharing, inspire you to create your own amazing successes.
What I learnt
Ronan Keating sums up what I’ve learnt perfectly.
Life is a roller coaster, you’ve just got to ride it. Stop hiding. Don’t fight it.
I’ve been hiding. Not really sharing myself with the world. Erecting façades in an effort to always look good. And avoid looking bad.
What I’ve learnt is… this doesn’t work!
I’ve started experimenting with this new idea of sharing myself with others. I am amazed at what is opening up for me. For starters:-
- A new communicative relationship with my drug-addicted daughter
- A new relationship with a sister to whom I haven’t spoken for almost twenty years
- An honest, heartfelt relationship with my estranged husband
- Unlimited energy and excitement about my life in the present and for the future
These are all baby steps and are just the beginning. But they feel mammoth and life changing to me.
What you can expect from this blog in 2015
1. Sharing more personal renovation stories
Over the past six months I have connected with many successful renovators who are “killing the pig”.
Personal success stories were the catalyst to nudging me into action and I’d like to give you that opportunity by sharing what ordinary people are doing, here in Australia, right now. Click here to check out one that was completed in October.
2. Sharing more opportunities to educate yourself
There is an abundance of property education out there. I have checked out ALOT of it.
To save you time, I will present to you the best quality and value-for-money education opportunities available. Check out this post for some I recommended in 2014. There will be more to come in 2015.
3. Sharing more renovation information with handy checklists
